Stress is a common condition that eats away at employees' productivity. Long working hours or a very serious office might help workers to accomplish tasks and meet deadlines. Employers and managers need to do their part to make sure that the staff do not work themselves to death. Cleanliness -- a clean office means one that is properly maintained daily. It is free of dust, dirt and trash. It is not frequented by tell-tale unhygienic creatures like rodents. Aside from hiring maintenance personnel, you can also get an air purifier that can get rid of at least 90% of the contaminants in the air that you breathe. Being clean will help prevent diseases.
Breaks -- employees must have adequate breaks throughout the day. These prevent them from getting too exhausted due to long stretches of continuous brain work and activity. Employees can make the most out of these breaks by getting themselves some snacks or energy food. They can also go for a quick walk during the break, specially if your office is situated near a park.
Lighting -- poor lighting can cause eye fatigue and physical exhaustion. On the other hand, studies indicate that good lighting can reduce eye strain, improve one's mood and do away with computer glare.
Relaxation and recreation -- there are offices that provide a nook for relaxation. This can be a quiet room where they can lounge in soft couches. Other offices also provide a means of recreation. This can be a table for playing pool or table football. Sometimes, it can be a place for playing badminton. No matter how simple it may be, employees appreciate having a nook in the office where they can pause and take a breather.
Furniture -- for employees who sit at their desks all day long, good chairs are a must. Get them cushioned chairs that can swivel and can be adjusted in terms of height.
