Radiators take a back seat in the modern office
Over the last few decades we have seen changes in most areas of our everyday lives and the work place is one that has been on the cutting edge of many of those changes. For one thing, many people now work from home in jobs that they once had to travel to a distant office to do before modern communications and the internet made it possible to move their information and work product instantly over the internet. Modern offices themselves have also been transformed by new developments in technologies. Custom designed office buildings gave us ergonomic places to do our work using scientifically designed desks and chairs, while intelligent climate control systems were designed into new buildings to regulate the internal temperature and taking old Radiators out of the office.
Heat is now provided within the office through an air conditioning duct that is controlled centrally by the company’s computers. Home offices remain more traditionally heated although every other aspect of the office can be supplied by niche suppliers to bring all the necessary equipment to the home worker. There is a vast range of seats and desks in eclectic styles that break the former office neutrality to suit the needs and tastes of the individual along with storage shelves and stationery with a homely yet functional look. The rise in the popularity of the home computer has also contributed to the homeward shift of the office as work space is needed for it and all the family to use.
