Office supplies and hearing aids in the workplace
The range of equipment designed for clerical workers has grown over the years and nowadays includes a variety of technological innovations as well as many tried and trusted old favourites. Post-it notes, Sellotape and file dividers are all still in use in many offices across the country, whilst newer products such as laser printers and cordless telephones are also in evidence. When taking on the phone it is, of course, crucial that you can hear what the other person is saying. Office workers who suffer from partial deafness may have had major issues with this facet of their job in the past but the availability of inexpensive and discreet devices to correct ear problems has meant that sufferers can carry on working, using these innovative hearing aids.
The small size of many models means that co-workers need never know who is wearing one. The latest phones and aids work well together so the feedback that used to be such a problem is largely a thing of the past. The other advantage of modern cordless handsets is that people are not tied to their desk for the duration of a call but are free to wander wherever they wish, within reason. Even if they happen to walk into rooms where many people are congregated, as long as they are wearing an effective aid they should be able to hear what the person they are speaking to is saying, without having to cover their free ear or squash themselves in a corner.
