One of the factors that affect your purchase decision would be the router's compatibility to your wireless card. It must also be compatible with your cable or DSL modem. Well-known brands often work well with a vast range of cards and modems. Note, though, that not all computers will require network cards. Many modern laptops and desktop computers come with a wireless card built in. You also need to learn about the range of your router's reach. Do you need for an office with only one room, or do you need it for a building with several storeys and plenty of rooms? There are multi-directional routers with many antennas that you can adjust. However, a router with a far-reaching signal might be detected by those outside your building.
